SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women’s soccer team (1-2-1) fell to No. 11 Oklahoma State (5-0-0) 3-0 on the SDSU Sports Deck Saturday evening. The Aztecs had more shots, shots on goal and corners than the Cowgirls, but couldn’t find the back of the net.

“I thought we were fantastic tonight,” Head coach Mike Friesen said after the match. “We earned a lot of great chances and overall, I’m very happy with the performance and thought we played really well, minus a couple small moments.”

In the 20th minute, it appeared a Cowgirl deflected the ball inside the box with an extended arm, but the referee didn’t call it.

Neither team scored in the first half, but SDSU held a 7-5 advantage in shots.

In the 57th minute, goalkeeper Alexa Madueno made a tremendous save in a 1v1 situation against Logan Heausler. However, just a minute later, Heausler scored, heading in a corner from Xcaret Pineda.

In the 74th minute, SDSU had one of their best looks. Denise Castro had a rocket shot that was knocked down by the keeper right to Kali Trevithick, who then had her shot deflected by a Cowgirl defender.

The Cowgirls’ second goal came in the 78th minute when the ball ricocheted off an Aztec defender and into the net.

Oklahoma State tacked on one more goal in the 83rd minute when Heausler scored again, finishing an Alex Morris assist.
