SAN DIEGO – San Diego State head softball coach Stacey Nuveman Deniz has announced the hiring of Bryce Te Kulve as an assistant coach. Te Kulve heads to The Mesa after serving as an assistant coach at Texas Tech last season. He was a graduate assistant at Florida State for the two prior seasons.
"We are extremely excited for Bryce to join our staff and Aztec softball ‘tribe’,” says Coach Nuveman Deniz on the new hire. “Bryce comes from one of the best coaching trees in college softball and has learned from and trained with the best coaches in the game. He will be an outstanding addition to our program and we can’t wait for him to get to San Diego and get started!”
The Red Raiders went 29-21 last season and beat Iowa State 10-9 (8 innings) to advance to the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament. During the regular season, Texas Tech had a ranked win at No. 21-ranked Baylor on April 5. Te Kulve worked primarily with the pitching staff, which struck out 182 hitters during the season.
Te Kulve’s two seasons in Tallahassee were spent under head coach Lonni Alameda. The Seminoles won the ACC Tournament and hosted regionals in both seasons, finishing as National Runners-Up in 2023. Florida State went 112-18 across those two years. Te Kulve worked with three-time All-American Kathryn Sandercock. In 2023, she finished 28-3 with 11 shutouts and a 1.12 ERA (seventh best in the country) and was named a second-team All-American, NFCA Southeast All-Region First Team, ACC Pitcher of the Year, ACC Tournament MVP and All-ACC First Team.
In addition to his coaching career, Te Kulve is a member of the 23U USA Men’s National Softball Team.
A native of Luxemburg, Wisconsin, Te Kulve earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from St. Norbert College in 2021, playing a season of baseball for the Green Knights. Te Kulve graduated from Florida State with a master’s degree in sports management in 2023.
