SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State had its eight-game winning streak snapped in a 6-2 loss to Boise State Sunday afternoon at SDSU Softball Stadium. The Aztecs (23-14) are now tied with Nevada for first place atop the Mountain West standings at 10-3.

The Broncos (25-16, 5-5 MW) did most of their damage in the top of the fourth inning, scoring four runs on four hits and a SDSU fielding miscue. With one out and a runner on second and third, Abby Bumcrot hit it to San Diego State first baseman AJ Murphy. Murphy threw it home to Cali Decker, but the Aztecs were unable to get Megan Lake out at the plate as she got back to third base while Hollie Farmer went back to second. With the bases now loaded, pinch hitter Karizma Bergesen singled to score a pair of runs and Sophia Knight followed with another two-run single.

SDSU got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth as Lala Macario led off with a single - San Diego State's first hit of the game - and later scored when Elianna Reyes stole second base and the ball was dropped by BS shortstop Keely Gousha.

Boise State completed the scoring with a two-run homer by Leah McAnally in the fifth.

Mac Barbara singled and walked to lead the Aztecs, who were outhit, 10-5, in the game.

Cece Cellura took the loss after allowing four runs on five hits and two walks in 1 1/3 innings of relief, falling to 6-3 on the season. Dee Dee Hernandez started the game and gave up one hit and no walks, striking out two in two innings. Allie Light pitched the final 3 3/2 innings, yielding two runs on four hits and no walks, striking out one.

Mac Barbara singled and now has a hit in 10 consecutive games, the longest streak by a SDSU player this season.

THE NOTE II
This was San Diego State's first loss since the first game of a doubleheader at Fresno State on March 22 (L, 4-1), snapping an eight-game winning streak.
