MARICOPA, Ariz. – The San Diego State women's golf team finished their first two rounds of the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic Wednesday. After 36 holes, they are in seventh place after shooting a 588.
Stephanie Barbaglia is tied for fifth and led the Aztecs with a three-under-par 141. She finished under par in both rounds on Wednesday. In the first round, she shot a 70, tied for the seventh-best score, and was at or under par on every hole. Barbaglia shot two birdies on the final four holes of the first round. In the second round, she finished one-under-par with 71 thanks to four birdies including three on the back nine.
Anika Sato is tied for 24th place after two rounds. After finishing the first round with a 76, she tied Barbaglia for best on the team with a one-under-par 71 in the second round. On the front nine of her second round, Sato had three birdies to just one bogey.
Tied for 29th, Emma Narita shot a 148. She shot a one-over-par 73 in the first round including consecutive birdies on the third and fourth holes. Narita followed it up with a 75 in the second round.
Playing as an individual, Anna Lina Otten is tied for 38th with a 149. She had two birdies and six pars in an eight-hole stretch in the middle of her first round, in which she finished one-over-par.
Nikki Kato and Andrea Gomez are tied for 74th and 81st, respectively. Kato had five birdies on the day while shooting a 155. Gomez started out with a birdie and two pars on her first three holes but was not able to keep up the positive momentum and finished with a 156.
After two rounds, Sacramento State is in first place in the team scoring with a seven-under-par 569.
