Barbaglia Takes Fourth Place at MW Championship

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – The San Diego State women's golf team finished in sixth place at the Mountain West Championship. The Aztecs finished the tournament strong, shooting a one-under-par 287 Thursday, the third best score of the day, to finish with a 25-over-par 889.
 
San Diego State had three golfers have an even par round or better Thursday, led by Stephanie Barbaglia's three-under-par 69.
 
Barbaglia tied for fourth overall with a three-under-par 213, which tied her career-low 54-hole score. Her 213 ties for the third-best Mountain West Championship score in school history and is the best since 2018. On Thursday, she had a team-best five birdies to help her shoot a career-best 69.
 
Emma Narita tied for 15th place with a two-over-par 218. She shot an even par 72 Thursday. She had three bogeys in her first three holes but was three-under-par over the last 12 holes.
 
Anika Sato shot a two-under-par 70 in her final round. Like Narita, she shined on the back nine where had four birdies. She finished the tournament with a 227 and tied for 32nd place.
 
Anna Lina Otten shot a four-over-par 76 Thursday, her best round of the tournament.
 
Nikki Kato's day was highlighted by an eagle chip-in on the 351-yard 15th hole.
 
San Jose State won the tournament by 18 strokes with 847 (-17) and were led by Kajsa Arwefjall who won the individual title with a nine-under-par 207.
 
STAT OF THE DAY
Stephanie Barbaglia's 213 matched her career-low 54-hole score that she recorded in SDSU's previous tournament. She shined on par fives where she averaged 4.8 strokes, the fourth best in the field.
