SAN DIEGO – Jessica Kain has been named the Mountain West Women's Track Athlete of the Week for her performance over the weekend. The conference office announced the award winners on Tuesday.

The Scotts Valley, Calif. native ran a season best 4:14.07 in the 1,500m at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Saturday. The time put her in 26th in a field of 175 competitors in the invitational section at one of the best distance meets of the year.

The time is a personal best for the senior and breaks her senior class record set just two weeks ago at the Stanford Invitational. It also improves on her number two ranking on the San Diego State all-time 1,500m top ten as she pursues the school record in her final season on The Mesa.

Kain continues to lead the Mountain West in the event, now by over two seconds, and ranks 20th in all of NCAA.
