COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- San Diego State softball's Cece Cellura (Glendale, Calif.) has been named both the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week and the MW Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday. It is the first pitcher-of-the-week award for the right-hander and second freshman accolade.

Cellura led the Aztecs (26-14, 13-3 MW) to a series sweep at San Jose State last weekend, going 1-0 with a save and a 1.00 ERA in seven innings across two appearances (one start). Cellura struck out four with one walk, limiting the opposition to a .154 average.

Cellura picked up the win in a 2-1 SDSU victory on Friday night, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over six innings, striking out four. She then earned the save in a 9-8 SDSU win on Sunday, allowing one hit and no walks in an inning of relief on just six pitches.

On the season, Cellura is 7-3 with four saves and a 2.42 ERA in 89 2/3 innings. Cellura has 40 strikeouts against just seven walks, and has combined on three San Diego State shutouts. Among the NCAA, Cellura ranks in a tie for first in fewest hit batters (1), third in fewest walks allowed per seven innings (0.55), 15th in strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.71) and tied for 30th in saves (4).

SDSU plays host to Nevada for a three-game series from April 26-28.
