COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Former San Diego State women's basketball players Courtney Clements, Chelsea Hopkins and Jené Morris were named to the Mountain West's All-25-Year Team, the conference office announced Saturday morning. The Aztecs' three selections tied for the second most in the conference.
Morris (2008-10) was a two-time honorable mention All-American, two-time Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year and helped lead the Aztecs to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances including a run to the Sweet 16 in 2010. In her three years on The Mesa, she averaged 15.8 points per game and totaled 1,499 points, which was the third most in program history when she graduated (now sixth). Morris was inducted into the Aztec Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019.
Clements (2011-13) and Hopkins (2012-13) helped SDSU win 25 games in 2011-12 and 27 in 2012-13 and make back-to-back postseasons.
Clements was a two-time honorable mention All-American and the Mountain West Player of the Year in 2011-12. She scored 1,495 points in three years, averaging 15.7 per game. She tied the school record (since broken) with 77 three-pointers in the 2012-13 season.
Hopkins was also an honorable mention All-American and won the Mountain West Player of the Year award in 2012-13. She has the top two single-season assists total in program history (209 in 2011-12 and 232 in 2012-13) and she is the only Aztec to record a triple-double, doing it four times in the 2012-13 season.
All three went on to play professionally, including stints in the WNBA, after their collegiate careers.
