SAN DIEGO – San Diego State suffered their first and only home loss of the season on Friday night, falling to Boise State, 79-77, in overtime.
The defeat snaps the Aztecs' 21-game home winning streak, which was the second-longest such streak in the country entering play, and denies them of their first perfect home season since 1966-67, finishing 14-1 on Steve Fisher Court at Viejas Arena.
SDSU twice had 10-point leads in regulation before the Broncos rallied. Lamont Butler made a layup for a 70-67 lead with 1:10 to go in regulation before a corner 3-pointer tied it with 52 seconds left. Butler made both ends of a one-and-one but then missed the front end with 31.1 seconds left and BSU's Roddie Anderson III hit a short jumper to send it to overtime.
In OT, Boise State's Max Rice heaved in a long 3-pointer as the shot clock expired to give BSU a 77-72 lead with 1:58 to go.
The Aztecs tied it with a shot off a rebound by Micah Parrish and a 3-pointer by Darrion Trammell. However, the Broncos' made a pair of free throws with just 1.7 seconds left and blocked the Aztecs' final shot at the buzzer to end the game.
Jaedon LeDee scored a game-high 21 points for the Aztecs while Butler scored 13, Micah Parrish 12 and Trammell 11. LeDee and Butler also pulled down six rebounds.
