SAN DIEGO – San Diego State swimmers Alex Roberts and Christiana Williams have qualified for the 2024 NCAA Championships, set for March 20-23 in Athens, Georgia. The announcement was made Wednesday by the NCAA Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Selection Committee in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The Aztec duo will compete at the NCAA Championships for the second year in a row and are scheduled to swim in multiple events at the Jack Bauerle Pool inside Gabrielsen Natatorium on the University of Georgia campus.

A native of Visalia, California, Roberts qualified for the NCAA Championships in both the 100 and 200 backstroke while receiving an invitation to compete in the 100 butterfly.

In the 200 back, Roberts claimed a gold medal at the Mountain West Championships with a season-fast time of 1:52.92, missing her own school and conference record by just .04 seconds. With her effort, the SDSU senior earned a No. 17 seed entering the national meet.

In addition, Roberts landed in the No. 22 spot on the NCAA Championships psych sheet for the 100 back after winning a silver medal at the conference meet with a career-fast swim of 51.95, which ranks second in school history.

Not to be outdone, Roberts also took home a silver medal in the 100 fly at the MW Championships with a career-best time of 52.96, which ranks fourth on the program's all-time charts. That performance netted her a No. 60 seed in the event heading into nationals.

A native of Tucson, Arizona, Williams punched her ticket to the NCAA meet in the 200 breaststroke after capturing a gold medal at the Mountain West Championships with a season-fast swim of 2:09.19, which ranks 30th in the nation.

With her spot clinched, Williams was also selected to participate in the 100 breaststroke on the strength of her NCAA "B" Cut times during the season. The SDSU senior enters the competition with a No. 39 seed after posting a career-fast time of 59.91 in a home dual-meet victory over the University of San Diego on Jan. 26, which ranks fourth in school history.

Additionally, Williams took home a bronze medal in the same event at the conference meet after touching the wall at 1:00.20.

The Aztecs are fresh off their third straight Mountain West championship and fifth in the last six years, totaling 1,487.50 team points to easily outdistance second-place UNLV (1,256.50 pts).

In all, the Scarlet and Black claimed seven individual gold medals and won four of five relay events last month en route to its eighth league title since 2011.

San Diego State will wait to see if the duo of Roberts and Williams will be joined at the NCAA Championships by any Aztec divers. All qualifying divers will be announced by Sunday, March 17 following the conclusion of the NCAA's five zone championships.
