Aztecs in Eighth Place at Juli Inkster Invitational

FAIRFAX, Calif. – The San Diego State women's golf team finished the first day of the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational Monday. The Aztecs are in eighth place (out of 14 teams) with a nine-over-par 585 and were led by Anika Sato and Stephanie Barbaglia who are both tied for 20th with a one-over-par 45.
 
The Aztecs shot a 297 in the first round and then a 288 in the second. SDSU's second round 288 was their second best 18-hole score of the season and was the fifth best in the field.
 
Barbaglia shot a one-over-par 73 in the first round. She had three consecutive bogeys on holes 18-2 but was two-under-par outside of that stretch. In her second 18, she recorded 16 pars to go with one bogey and one birdie to shoot an even par 72. Barbaglia's 145 is her best score through 36 holes in her career.
 
Anika Sato tied for a team-best three birdies in her two-over-par 74 in the first round. She shot a one-under-par 71 in her second round, tied for her second best 18-hole score of the year. Her second 18 was highlighted by an eagle on the 496-yard par five 15th hole.
 
Anna Lina Otten is tied for 33rd with a four-over-par 148. After shooting a 75 in the first round, she shot a one-over-par 73 in the second and was one-under-par over her final 11 holes.
 
Emma Narita carded a 75 in both rounds Monday.
 
Andrea Gomez rebounded from a rough first round to shoot an even par 72 in her second round with a team-high four birdies.
 
Stanford is the team leader through 36 holes with a 13-under-par 563. Oregon State's Kyra Ly and Camille Boyd are tied for the individual lead with an eight-under-par 136.

The Aztecs will wrap up the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational Tuesday with the final 18 holes, beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
