SAN DIEGO – San Diego State track and field was scattered across California for their competition on Friday with the majority of student-athletes at nearby San Diego Mesa for the Arnie Robinson Invitational while a handful of distance runners traveled to Northern California for both the Stanford Invitational and the Mike Fanelli Classic.

The track events started with the 4x100m relay race and some history as the Aztecs set a meet and stadium record in their first-place finish. The team of Jada Pierre, Aji Mbye, Hannah Waller and Jada Moore ran a 44.31 to set the records. The time also ranks the tenth fastest in SDSU history.

Moore also ran in the 200m, crossing the line in 23.95 seconds to lead a group of five Aztec sprinters who placed second through fifth. The senior was just edged out by one one-hundredth of a second for first place, a meet record, and stadium record by former teammate Danae Dyer (2023 graduate).

History was also made at the Stanford Invitational by Jessica Kain. Running in the fastest 1,500m section of the meet, she ran a 4:15.99 for a fifth-place finish. Her time sets an Aztec senior class record that was previously held by SDSU Hall of Famer Lynn Kanuka and has been untouched since 1982.

Four Aztecs recorded personal bests at the Arnie Robinson Invitational in addition to the relay record. On the track, Lidia Major ran a 1:01.30 in the second 400m hurdle race of her young career while Olivia Hicks ran in her first 200m dash posting a time of 24.71 seconds. The other two PRs came in the field events as Thaila Wilson posed a 5.73m (18-9.5) in long jump and Jenna Fee Feyerabend had a throw of 13.98m (45-10.5) in shot put.

At the Mike Fanelli Classic hosted by San Francisco State, Samantha Wood finished 12th in a field of 183 runners in the 1500m at 4:38.56. Isabella Fauria finished 66th overall in the event with a time of 4:41.22. Eva Rethmeier ran a 17:08.76 to finish 24th in the 5000m, just ahead of Vanessa Cabello's 17:11.33 in 26th.

San Diego State will have three more distance runners race tomorrow. Alex Lomeli and Lauren Harper will run the 800m at the Stanford Invitational while Tatum Zinkin runs the 800m at the Mike Fanelli Classic.
