COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – On Wednesday, the Mountain West Conference announced its weekly awards for tennis and San Diego State's Johannes Seeman was named Mountain West Player of the Week.
This is Seeman's third time winning the award in his career. He previously garnered Mountain West Player of the Week accolades as a redshirt freshman on April 26, 2021, and as a junior on January 18, 2023. Seeman is the first Aztec to win the award three times since Freddy Gelbrich in 2015 and 2016 and seventh total to accomplish the feat. He joins Oliver Maiberger as the only Aztecs to win Mountain West Player of the Week honors in at least three different seasons.
Seeman won in both singles and doubles in San Diego State's 5-2 win over Portland, its lone match of the week. He won all three of his sets by the score of 6-2. Seeman defeated Oscar Brown on the top court in singles. In his doubles match with Eugenio Gonzalez Fitzmaurice, the pair played on the second court, taking down Nicolas Ocana and Nikola Keremedchiev.
Seeman and San Diego State begin Mountain West play on the road this week. SDSU will play at Boise State on Friday, March 29, and at Nevada on Sunday, March 31.
