ATHENS, Ga. – San Diego State's Alex Roberts improved on her own school and Mountain West record in the 200 backstroke to highlight the Aztec delegation at the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday at the University of Georgia's Jack Bauerle Pool inside Gabrielsen Natatorium.

Roberts finished 19th in the preliminaries of the 200 back after touching the wall with a career-fast time of 1:52.76, eclipsing her own program and conference standard of 1:52.89 set at the 2023 Mountain West Championships.

In addition, Roberts' 19th-place performance marked the highest finish of the seven MW student-athletes competing at this week's national meet and represented SDSU's best placement since 2022 when Klara Thormalm finished 15th overall in the 100 breaststroke.

Despite her efforts, however, Roberts missed out on a spot in the consolation finals by just .14 seconds.

Likewise in the 200 breaststroke, fellow senior Williams fell short in her quest to advance to Saturday evening's final session after placing 36th in the preliminaries with a time of 2:10.85.

With Saturday's results, SDSU capped another highly successful season after winning its third straight Mountain West championship last month in Houston, Texas. The Aztecs captured seven individual gold medals and won four of five relay events, amassing 1,487.50 team points en route to their fifth MW title in the last six years and eighth since 2011.

Along with sending at least one individual to the NCAA Championships for the 15th time in program history, SDSU compiled a 15-0 record in dual-meet action during the 2023-24 campaign, extending its winning streak to 65 in that category with a home victory over the University of San Diego on Jan. 26. The Aztecs have not lost a dual meet since Jan. 8, 2018, a stretch of over six years.
