LA JOLLA, Calif. – The San Diego State men's tennis team was represented in the Round of 16 in the Pacific Coast Doubles Championships for the third straight year on Saturday. In this year's event in La Jolla, Eugenio Gonzalez Fitzmaurice and Bora Sengul were Aztecs that advanced to the fourth round of play. Going up against a pair of players from Pepperdine who were seeded ninth, the Aztecs came up just shy of a win.

Gonzalez Fitzmaurice and Sengul won all three of their matches on Friday to advance to Saturday's Round of 16. They faced Pepperdine's ninth seeded duo of Pietro Fellin and Edwards Winter. The Waves forced a tiebreaker in the first set, but the Aztecs came out on top 7-6 (8-6). After the Aztecs dropped the second set 6-3, the match came down to a third set, which also went to a tiebreaker. The Aztecs ran out of steam, falling 7-6 (7-2).

San Diego State's next match is at the Aztec Tennis Center against Gonzaga at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 11.
