Aztec Divers Complete Day One at NCAA Zone E Meet

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – A trio of San Diego State divers competed in the 1-meter springboard event on Monday to open the 2024 NCAA Zone E Championships at Wall Aquatic Center on the campus of Northern Arizona University.

Junior Valentina Lopez Arevalo was the lone Aztec participant to qualify for the final round, placing 12th overall with an aggregate total of 531.75 points after taking eighth in the preliminaries with a score of 277.40.

Earlier in the day, junior Summer Westmoreland (248.00) just missed out on a berth in the 1-meter finals after finishing 22nd in the preliminaries, while freshman Alina Skrocki (223.75) completed the round in the 39th position.

The top-18 finishers in the initial session earned a spot in the final round, with the 18th-place competitor amassing 257.40 points.

The NCAA Zone E Diving Championships resume on Tuesday for San Diego State with the 3-meter springboard event. The Aztecs' Lopez Arevalo, Westmoreland and Skrocki will be joined by Jessica Schroeder in the preliminary round, which gets underway at 11:30 a.m. PT to be followed by the finals later in the afternoon.
