FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – San Diego State divers completed the first wave of action at the Lumberjack Invitational on Thursday, as Valentina Lopez Arevalo finished second in the 1-meter springboard to lead the Aztec delegation at Wall Aquatic Center.
SDSU advanced all six event competitors to the final round where Lopez Arevalo surpassed an NCAA Zone qualifying score (274.70) en route to a runner-up placement with 565.50 points overall.
In addition, the Aztecs received a pair of top-10 results from Summer Westmoreland and Flagstaff native Alina Skrocki, who finished seventh and ninth, respectively.
Westmoreland compiled 527.30 points for the day, including an NCAA Zone qualifying mark of 269.20 in the preliminaries, while Skrocki accomplished the same feat with a season-best score of 272.70 in the finals for an aggregate total of 510.95 points.
Elsewhere, Olivia Zamudio was slotted 11th in the standings with a final tally of 479.25 after amassing 243.40 points in the preliminary round.
Rounding out the SDSU contingent were Jules Harrison (468.85) and Jessica Schroeder (452.65), who placed 14th and 16th, respectively. Schroeder's score of 231.45 points in the preliminaries marked a season best.
The Lumberjack Diving Invitational resumes on Friday for San Diego State with the preliminaries and finals of the 3-meter springboard, starting at 10:30 a.m. MT/9:30 a.m. PT. Fans can access results on DiveMeets.com.
