ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – San Diego State track and field finished their third indoor meet of the season competing in day two of the New Mexico Collegiate Classic on Saturday. Hannah Waller and Xiamara Young both had big days, qualifying for the finals in the 60m dash and triple jump, respectively.

Waller ran a 7.31 in the second heat qualifying for a spot in the 60m finals as the third-fastest among non-heat winners. In the final, she lined up with several sprinters in the top 20 of the NCAA and World Championship competitor, Julien Alfred. She crossed the line in 7.26 seconds for a third-place finish, matching her personal best which ranks as the second-fastest time in school history.

Young dominated her triple jump flight with a jump of 12.70m (41-8) to win it two by almost ten inches and ultimately qualify for the finals. In her final three attempts, she bested herself with a mark of 13.10m (42-8.75) for a new PR and the fifth-best mark in SDSU indoor history. She would finish fourth overall against the top jumpers in the country including professionals that have jumped in the world championships.

Sameerah Evans competed alongside Young in the triple jump, finishing 14th overall. Improving with each of her three attempts, she finished the day with a season-best mark of 12.03m (39-5.75).

On the track, Olivia Hicks ran another impressive race in the unseeded 60m crossing the line in 7.65 seconds. The time was good for a heat victory and is just three-hundredths of a second shy of her personal best. Later in the invitational 60m, Shaquena Foote (7.49) and Jada Moore (7.52) both recorded season-bests.

San Diego State will return to New Mexico next weekend to compete in the Don Kirby Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
