COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The San Diego State football team and Mountain West released its 2024 schedule on Thursday. Game times and television arrangements, including moves to non-Saturdays will be announced at a later date.

The Aztecs will play six of their 12 games in 2024 at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego. Seven of SDSU's 11 FBS opponents made a bowl game a year ago.

San Diego State opens its 102nd season of play and first under the direction of head coach Sean Lewis on Aug. 31 at home against Texas A&M-Commerce.

The Aztecs follow with another home game against Oregon State on Sept. 7. The Beavers went 8-5 a season ago, including a 26-9 victory over SDSU as the 16th-ranked team in the country in Corvallis.

San Diego State then plays at California on Sept. 14. The Bears were 6-7 a year ago and made their first bowl game since 2019.

Following an open week on Sept. 21, the Aztecs travel to Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, for a game against Central Michigan. SDSU defeated the Chippewas, 48-21, in their only meeting in the 2019 New Mexico Bowl. CMU finished 5-7 in 2023.

San Diego State kicks off its Mountain West play on Oct. 5 at home against Hawai'i. Last year, the Aztecs beat the Rainbow Warriors, 41-34, for their 10th win in the last 12 meetings in the series. UH went onto finish with a 5-8 record.

SDSU follows with a road game at Wyoming, its first venture to Laramie since beating the Cowboys, 27-24, in the 2016 Mountain West Championship game. San Diego State played at Wyoming twice in a span of two weeks in that 2016 season (Nov. 19 and Dec. 3) but have met only once since in a 26-22 Aztec win at home on Oct. 12, 2019. The Cowboys were 9-4 a year ago with a victory over Toledo in the Arizona Barstool Bowl.

After its second and final open week of the season on Oct. 19, SDSU welcomes Washington State on Oct. 26 for its final non-conference game of the season. The two programs have not met since Sept. 17, 2011, when San Diego State came out on top, 42-24, in San Diego. The Cougars are coming off a 5-7 season.

On Nov. 2, the Aztecs head to defending conference champion Boise State. SDSU lost a 34-31 heartbreaker to the Broncos last year at Snapdragon Stadium. BS was 8-6 a year ago, falling to UCLA in the Los Angeles Bowl.

San Diego State follows with a home game against New Mexico on Nov. 9. The Aztecs have won nine straight in the series with the Lobos, who were 4-8 in 2023.

SDSU travels to UNLV on Nov. 16 for a game against a team that went 9-5 a year ago and made the MW Championship game. San Diego State has four consecutive wins against the Rebels, and has won eight of the last eight meetings (8-1) and 11 of the last 13 (11-2).

The Aztecs next play at Utah State on Nov. 23. SDSU dropped a 32-24 decision in double overtime to the Aggies last season. San Diego State still leads the all-time series, 13-4, including a 5-0 mark at USU. Utah State was 6-7 last year and played in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

The Aztecs wrap up their regular season on Nov. 30 against Air Force at Snapdragon Stadium. SDSU fell to the Falcons, 49-10, last year on the road, giving AFA its first two-game winning streak in the series since a three-game stretch from 2007-09. Air Force finished 9-4 in 2023 with an Armed Forces Bowl win over James Madison.

The 12th conference championship game will take place a date to be announced the following week and will pit the top-2 teams in the regular-season standings.

The 2024 MW schedule follows a 7+1 model, whereby each MW program will play seven league opponents, and face either Oregon State or Washington State, with an even split of four home games and four away games among the eight contests. Working off the previous three-year schedule rotation (2023-2025), matchups were rebalanced utilizing the same principles to minimize the impact on the original 2024 schedule. SDSU's two annual opponents are still Hawai'i and Utah State.

Season tickets for the 2024 campaign start at just $200 ($175 plus $25 Aztec Club Membership), only $33.33 per game. Note that there is also Stadium Excellence Gift attached to each ticket, which is a one-time tax-deductible gift that helps offset the building costs of the state-of-art Snapdragon Stadium, and is payable over three years (interest free).

Fans are encouraged to purchase season tickets with benefits featuring interest-free payment plans, pre-sale access for most third-party events, and discounts on merchandise at the team store, additional single-game tickets and food/beverage. Additionally, season-ticket members will have the ability to purchase discounted season parking, access to a personal account representative and the ability to transfer and resell tickets digitally.
