SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's basketball team returns to Steve Fisher Court at Viejas Arena for its penultimate home game of the 2023-24 season, to face San Jose State on Tuesday at 8 p.m. PT. The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.

OFF THE BOUNCE
The Aztecs and Spartans are meeting for the 84th time, with SDSU holding a 48-35 advantage in the all-time series. In the Mountain West era, SDSU has a 18-1 lead in the series, is 32-8 in San Diego overall, and a robust 12-0 at Steve Fisher Court.

Following its 73-41 win at Fresno State (Feb. 24) San Diego State, in its last 31 games immediately following a loss, are 28-3. In situations where a loss is followed immediately by a home contest, San Diego State has won 34 consecutive games.

Since the start of the 2019-20 season, SDSU has a 40-4 record in Mountain West home games and is in the midst of a 13-game win streak against conference opponents at Steve Fisher Court.

San Diego State's nine blocked shots at Fresno State (Feb. 20) are the most in all games since it swatted 10 shots against No. 25 Utah on Nov. 18, 2014 and the most in a road game since it totaled 10 at UNLV on Feb. 16, 2013.

The Aztecs are among the elite programs in the country and that includes winning on their opponent's floor. Since the beginning of the 2009-10 campaign, SDSU has the SEVENTH best road record in the nation, 106-66 (61.6 percent). Since the start of the 2019-20 campaign, SDSU has lost 16 times in 51 road games (35-16, 68.6 percent), which are the FIFTH fewest road losses in the nation trailing only Gonzaga (6 losses), Saint Mary's (12 losses) and Baylor & Houston (15 losses) and its 68.6 winning percentage in road games in that time frame is the fifTH best in the nation.

San Diego State's seven losses have all come on the road against Quad 1 opponents, and six of its seven defeats have come by nine points or less. SDSU has lost by 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 & 18 points.

San Diego State is one of seven programs nationally whose only losses this season have come against Quad 1 opponents (also: Houston, Purdue, Connecticut, Baylor, Auburn and Florida).

With its 73-41 win at Fresno State (Feb. 24), Brian Dutcher has at least 21 victories in all seven seasons as head coach. Dutcher extended his school record for most consecutive 21-win seasons to start his coaching career.

San Diego State owns a 129-30 record (81.1 percent) since the start of the 2019-20 campaign. That is the THIRD best record in the nation trailing only Gonzaga (143-19, 88.3 percent) and Houston (140-25, 84.8 percent).

Once again San Diego State is one of the elite teams when it comes to challenging itself. According to Kenpom, through the games of Feb. 24, the Aztecs have the No. 18 strength of schedule rating, including the No. 10 rated non-conference schedule. SDSU has faced the No. 13 rated schedule in opponents adjusted offensive efficiency and the No. 32 rated schedule in opponents adjusted defensive efficiency.

Since the start of the 2013-14 season, when the current slate of MW members was finalized, SDSU has an 87-11 (.888) record in Mountain West HOME games, the best mark in the conference.

The Aztecs metrics rank among the best in the nation. Through the games of February 25, the Aztecs were ranked No. 18 in the NET, No. 16 in Kenpom, No. 21 in T-Rank, No. 12 in KPI and No. 29 in BPI. San Diego State's NET strength of schedule is No. 17.

Entering its game against San Jose State, the Aztecs will put its 19-home game win streak, the second-longest streak in program history, on the line. The 19-game home win streak is currently the SECOND longest active streak in the country through the games of Feb. 25 (Houston and Drake have won 20 straight at home).

Senior forward Jaedon LeDee recorded his fifth straight and 16th overall 20-point game of the season (SDSU is 12-4), totaling a team-high 22 points and grabbing 11 rebounds at Fresno State on Saturday. It was his 10th double double of the year. He is the first Aztec to record double figure double doubles in a season since Jalen McDaniels totaled 11 in 2018-19.

At Fresno State, senior forward Jay Pal compiled his fifth game of double-digit points (14 points) in 2023-24 & 32nd of his career.

With 12 points at Fresno State, junior wing Reese Waters recorded his 17th double digit scoring game of the season (SDSU is 12-5) and 33rd of his college career. Waters has scored 10-plus points in each of the last two games, both coming off the bench.

Senior wing Micah Parrish finished the Fresno State game with 10 points, his 14th game this year & 56th of his career in double figure scoring.

Senior guard Darrion Trammell finished the Fresno State game with six assists and zero turnovers becoming the first Aztec since Lamont Butler (No. 15, 2022 vs. Stanford) to compile those stats and the 17th in the Dutcher/Fisher era.

Brian Dutcher is in his seventh season as San Diego State's head coach and his 25th season on the Aztec sidelines. In his six-plus seasons as head coach, he has led the Aztecs to five conference titles, six Mountain West championship game appearances, a 172-54 (.761) overall record, the 2023 NCAA national championship game, has been named the national coach of the year, and twice the Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year.
