Aztec Tidbits
• SDSU rallied from a nine-point second half deficit to beat New Mexico 60-53 Feb. 7. The Aztecs outscored the Lobos 28-12 over the final 11 minutes.
• Kim Villalobos had a double-double in that game with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
• SDSU beat Air Force 73-63 in their last game, finishing the game on a 20-4 run and forcing the Falcons to miss their final 11 shots.
• Jada Lewis led the Aztecs with 21 points and made five three-pointers. Lewis has scored in double-digits in five straight games, averaging 15.4 points and shooting 55% (18-33) from three during that span.
• The Aztecs have won four of their past five games and seven of their last nine.
• SDSU is tied for fourth in the Mountain West with three games to play. The Aztecs' remaining three games are all against teams in the top four in the standings.
• The Aztecs are averaging 67.8 points per game, their highest since the 2012-13 season and their second highest total in the Mountain West era (25 years).
• The Aztecs lead the Mountain West in free throws made per game (12.7) and they are shooting 76.6% from the line, the program's best in the Mountain West era (25 years).
• SDSU is 7-2 in their last nine games. In their six wins, they are forcing 20.1 turnovers per game. In their two losses, they forced just 11.0 turnovers per game.
• SDSU is averaging just 13.1 turnovers per game, the 33rd fewest in the nation.
• The Aztecs are averaging 27 bench points over their last three games. Jazlen Green scored 13 points against Air Force last Wednesday.
• SDSU has four players averaging at least 10 points per game: Adryana Quezada (14.3), Jada Lewis (10.9), Abby Prohaska (10.8 and Kim Villalobos (10.7).
• The Aztecs have had 10 different players score in double-digits this year.
• SDSU's typical starting lineup features two sixth-year seniors (Barcello and Prohaska), two fifth-year seniors (Lewis and Quezada) and a fourth-year senior (Villalobos). That group averages 118 career games with 79 starts and is believed to be the most experienced starting five in the nation.
• Adryana Quezada is one of six players in the nation to have at least 1,200 points, 600 rebounds and 100 assists in their career while averaging at least 14.0 points per game and shooting at least 52% from the field.
• Abby Prohaska leads the conference in free throw percentage (85.1%), while Quezada leads the Mountain West in conference play (83.3%).
• Over the last two seasons, the Aztecs are 26-7 at home and 19-7 in non-conference games.
• The Aztecs are 11-4 at home this season after going 15-3 in Viejas Arena last year. It's the first time they've won at least 11 home games in back-to-back seasons since 2011-12 and 2012-13.
• SDSU won at least nine non-conference games for the second season in a row. It's also the first time they've done that in back-to-back seasons since 2011-12 and 2012-13.
• All four of SDSU's 2024 recruits were nominated for the McDonald's All-American game: guards Kaelyn Hamilton (McKinney, Texas), Natalia Martinez (San Leandro, Calif.) and Naomi Panganiban (La Jolla, Calif.) and forward Bailey Barnhard (San Diego).
• SDSU has gone to overtime four times this season, tied for the most in program history. They didn't go to OT once last season.
Player Notes
• Adryana Quezada (Frisco, Texas) is shooting a career-high 54.6% from the floor, which is fourth in the MW.
• She has scored in double-digits in all but five games and has led SDSU in scoring 16 times.
• Against Penn, she became the first Aztec since 2020, and just seventh in the Mountain West era, to have at least 20 points, nine rebounds and five assists in a game. Out of those seven, Quezada accomplished the feat in the fewest number of minutes.
• In conference play, Kim Villalobos (Los Angeles), is fourth in the Mountain West in rebounding (7.7 rpg) and fifth in steals (1.7 spg) and seventh in blocks (1.0 bpg). She is the only player in the conference in the top 10 in all three categories.
• Villalobos is the first post player to lead SDSU in steals since Khristina Hunter in the 2014-15 season.
• Against Utah State earlier this month, Villalobos became just the fifth Aztec ever to have at least eight rebounds, six assists and three steals in a Mountain West game.
• Villalobos has 10 career double-doubles and six of them have happened since the beginning of conference play.
• Villalobos stuffed the stat sheet vs. Westcliff earlier this year and became just the second Aztec in the Mountain West era (1999-present) to have at least 15 points, seven rebounds, six steals and five assists in a game, joining SDSU Hall of Famer Jené Morris.
• Both Quezada and Villalobos have over 600 career rebounds.
• Jada Lewis (Rocklin, Calif.) is making 2.2 three-pointers per game, fourth in the Mountain West. She has made at least three three-pointers in five straight games.
• Lewis, who played her first four years at Portland State, has made 269 three-pointers in her career. The SDSU record is 249 by Jamey Cox (2000-03).
• Lewis is 85-for-97 (87.6%) from the free throw line in her career. She is 20-for-21 from the line in conference play.
• Both Lewis and Quezada have over 1,200 career points.
• Abby Prohaska (Liberty Township, Ohio) leads the Mountain West in free throw percentage (85.1%) this season. She has shot 84.8% from the line in her career and 86.0% while at SDSU.
• Prohaska is averaging career-highs in minutes, points, rebounds, assists, and three-point percentage.
• Sarah Barcello (Phoenix, Ariz.) is leading the team in minutes (31.6) in conference play.
• Barcello is averaging career-highs in minutes per game (30.7) and field goal percentage (.447) and her three-point percentage of 35.4% is her best since her freshman year at Marist (41% in 2018-19).
• Five Aztecs are shooting at least 35% from three in conference play: Alyssa Jackson (46.7%) and Quezada (46.2%), Mia Davis (43.8%), Barcello (37.5%) and Jada Lewis (37.5%)
• Against Utah State last month, Mia Davis (Phoenix, Ariz.) became just the second Aztec freshman in the Mountain West era (1999-2024) to make five or more threes in a half.
• Jazlen Green (Upland, Calif.) joined the Aztecs after the semester break. She averaged 9.1 points and made 97 threes in 51 games at Cal.
• Green has scored 13 points in two of the last three games.
Opponent Notebook (New Mexico)
• The Lobos are 19-9 on the year and 10-5 in conference.
