CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. -- The San Diego State softball team run-ruled Bethune-Cookman, 9-0, in five innings for its second win of the day at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic Friday in Cathedral City, California. It was the second win of the day for the Aztecs (8-5), who earlier downed Nebraska, 3-2, in eight innings.

SDSU made short work of the Wildcats (1-11), scoring six runs in the top of the first inning, one in the second and two in the fifth to complete its first run-rule victory of the season. San Diego State had 11 hits in the game and received a complete game, three-hit shutout from Cassidy West.

Micaela Macario set the tone by leading off the game with a home run over the right-field wall. Angie Yellen's bases loaded walk plated Bella Espinoza and Jade Ignacio singled home Makena Brocki. The big hit came off the bat of Katie Goldberg, whose bases loaded triple cleared the bases.

The Aztecs added to their lead in the second when Yellen's sacrifice fly plated Espinoza.

SDSU completed its scoring when Farren's two-out single in the fifth knocked in both Ignacio and Macey Keester.

Three players had two hits apiece for San Diego State, including Espinoza (2-for-2, 2 R, SB), Macario (2-for-4, HR, RBI, R, SB) and AJ Murphy (2-for-3, 2B). Ignacio also reached base twice, going 1-for-2 with two runs, an RBI and a walk, while Goldberg (3 RBI, 3B), Yellen (2 RBI, R, BB) and Farren (1-for-3, 2 RBI) each had multiple RBIs.

The offense was plenty for West (1-2). West went the distance for the Aztecs, allowing just three hits and no walks over five innings, while striking out three. Only two BCU runners got into scoring position against West.
