SAN DIEGO – The Aztec Lacrosse team will travel to Denver, Colo. this Sunday to face No. 10 Denver University at 12 p.m. MT/11 a.m. PT. There is a free live stream on Pioneer All-Access.

Aztec Tidbits

  • The  Aztecs last game was a 11-19 loss at home against UC Davis.
  • Freshman Frankie Garcia (Newport Beach, Calif.) leads the team with nine points from seven goals and two assists, and 12 shots on goal.
  • Goalkeeper Avery Dyer (Elkridge, Md.) made 19 saves against UC Davis, the most by a DI player so far this season and the second most in SDSU history. She leads the PAC-12 in saves with 29 and is second in the country with 16.00 saves per game.
  • Jenna McDermott (Westminster, Md.), in her first year at SDSU after playing at UMBC for four seasons, also has seven goals on the season, leading the team in free-position goals with four.
  • Sara Toner (Reston, Va.) is tied at the top of the leaderboard with Garcia with 14 shots. She also had the game winning goal against Xavier.
  • The Aztecs have seven assists on 33 goals, with Nikki Seven (Crofton, Md.) and Garcia leading the team with two each.
  • Mia Kohn (San Diego, Calif.) leads the Aztecs with four caused turnovers.
  • Kate Christos (Madison, N.J.) leads the team with nine draw controls.
  • Dyer leads the Aztecs with eight ground balls, followed by Reilly Hunter (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) and Tatum Neach (Danville, Calif.) with four ground balls each.
  • After facing No. 10 Denver, the Aztecs will travel to North Carolina for a weekend to play Campbell (March 1) and High Point (March 3).
  • The Aztecs will then play four straight home games including the conference opener against ASU at Snapdragon Stadium.

The Pioneers opened their season ranked No. 4 in the country and their first two games consisted of a 16-8 win against Louisville and a 4-8 loss to No. 10 Michigan... Denver will face Ohio State on Friday before facing the Aztecs... Graduate Students Julia Gilbert and Olivia Penoyer lead the team with five points each, Gilbert with five goals and Penoyer with two goals and three assists... Senior Anna Palmisano leads the Pioneers with six caused turnovers... Senior Abby Jenkins leads the team with six draw controls... Junior Goalkeeper Emelia Bohi has eight saves and 16 goals allowed on 41 shots faced... Denver is 9-0 against the Aztecs.
