Aztecs Tie for Sixth at SDSU Classic

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – The Aztec women's golf team wrapped up their home tournament, the San Diego State Classic at The Farms Golf Club, finishing tied for sixth place out of 12 teams, shooting a 42-over-par 906. The Aztecs' sixth place finish is their highest finish of the year.
 
Andrea Gomez led the Aztecs with an eight-over-par 224, which is good for a tie for 13th place. Her day was highlighted by an eagle on the fifth hole. She holed her second shot from 150 yards out with a seven iron. She also had three birdies.
 
Anna Lina Otten led the Aztecs Tuesday, shooting a 73, which ties for her best 18-hole score season. She finished one stroke behind Gomez and finished tied for 18th.
 
Stephanie Barbaglia tied for 32nd with a 15-over-par 231 and carded a 79 Tuesday. She averaged 2.92 strokes on par threes in the tournament, tied for the fifth lowest score.
 
Anika Sato and Emma Narita tied for 38th with a 233 (+17). Narita shot a 75 Tuesday, her best round of the tournament and tied for the team-lead with three birdies. Sato shot a 77, collecting 14 pars.
 
Nikki Kato, who was playing as an individual and playing in her first collegiate tournament, shot an 88 Tuesday.

San Diego State plays in the Pac-12 preview Monday-Wednesday at the Nanea Golf Club in Kailua Kona, Hawai'i.
