SAN DIEGO – This week, the San Diego State women's tennis team will play three matches in five days at the Aztec Tennis Center. The Aztecs will host Hawai'i at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Long Beach State at 1 p.m. on Friday and No. 14-ranked California at noon on Sunday.
San Diego State (3-1) has won three straight after dropping its season opener at No. 6 Pepperdine. SDSU is 13-3 in singles during its win streak, with the top three spots in the Aztec lineup going a combined 7-0 during that time frame.
Hawai'i (3-2) has won back-to-back matches over UC Irvine and UC San Diego. The Rainbow Wahine are led by the nation's No. 86-ranked singles player Ana Vilcek. The Aztecs have historically had success against Hawai'i, leading 15-5 in the all-time matchup. However, Hawai'i won 5-2 when the teams met a season ago.
Long Beach State (2-1) coasted to 7-0 wins over Fresno Pacific and UC Riverside to begin its season before it was tripped up by Loyola Marymount, a team the Aztecs defeated 4-2 on January 27. San Diego State leads the all-time series with The Beach by the score of 29-15 including a 4-0 victory in 2023.
No. 14-ranked California is the first ranked team SDSU will face since its first match of the season, also its only loss. The Golden Bears' (3-2) took down Illinois and Oklahoma to sweep their ITA Kickoff Weekend and advance to the ITA Indoor Championship, where they lost to Michigan and Pepperdine, who are both ranked in the top six. California boasts six ranked singles players: No. 19 Katja Wiersholm, No. 21 Hannah Viller Moeller, No. 22 Jessica Alsola, No. 51 Valentina Ivanov, No. 71 Lan Mi and No. 105 Berta Passola Folch. Viller Moeller and her partner, Mao Mushika, are also ranked 15th in doubles. SDSU is just 6-43 all-time against the Golden Bears, including a 5-1 defeat in Berkeley last season.

After this week, San Diego State will head to Seattle to face Portland at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, and No. 22 Washington at noon the next day.
