Aztecs in Sixth After Two Rounds at SDSU Classic

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – The Aztec women's golf team completed the first day of their home tournament, the San Diego State Classic at The Farms Golf Club. After 36 holes, the Aztecs are in sixth place.
 
After shooting a 308 in the first round, the Aztecs shot a 298 in the second round. The 10-stroke improvement from round one to round two was the best in the 12-team field.
 
Andrea Gomez leads the Aztecs with a five-over-par 149, which is good for 13th place. She shot a 76 in the first round and then a 73 in the second round. She was an even par over her last 12 holes.
 
Anna Lina Otten remained consistent and carded a 76 in both rounds to finish the day with an eight-over-par 152.
 
Stephanie Barbaglia also had a 152 through 36 holes. After an opening round 78, she shot a 74 in her second round, the second-best score among Aztecs.
 
Anika Sato bounced back from an 81 in her first round to shoot a 75 in her second 18.
 
Emma Narita finished the day with a 158, shooting a 78 and 80.
 
Nikki Kato, who was playing as an individual and making her collegiate debut, improved her score by five strokes in the second round.
 
STAT OF THE DAY
Anika Sato and Nikki Kato averaged an even par (3.0) on par three holes, tied for the seventh best average in the field.
