ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – San Diego State track and field saw a combination of nine jumpers and sprinters on day one of the Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque on Friday afternoon. Aji Mbye shined, winning the unseeded 200m to open the meet.

It was the best race of Mbye's young career, crossing the line in 23.85 seconds to win her heat and ultimately record the fastest time among the 105 sprinters. She finished three-hundredths of a second faster than Kendra Farmer, a professional for Running Wild AC. Her time also marks a new personal best and ranks number 10 on San Diego State's all-time list.

Later in the invitational 200m, Hannah Waller recorded a new PR with a time of 24.04 to finish 14th overall in the section just ahead of Jada Moore in 16th at 24.06 seconds. Lidia Major had a nice placement in the unseeded 400m, posting a time of 56.37 for a top ten finish.

On the field, Waller led a duo of Aztec long jumpers at 6.03m (19-09.50) for a 14th place finish just ahead of the reigning Mountain West Field Athlete of the Week, Xiamara Young, at 5.96m (19-06.75) in 19th.

San Diego State concludes their final regular season meet tomorrow in New Mexico. The field events start with the pole vault 'C' section at 8 a.m. PT while the unseeded 60m hurdles start at 8:55 a.m. PT.
