Track and Field Finishes Competition at UW Invitational

SEATTLE, Wash. – After a tremendous day one in Washington, San Diego State wrapped up their weekend at the UW Invitational with a group of mid-distance runners and pole vaulters competing on Saturday.
 
On the track, Jessica Kain paced the team in the 800m with a time of 2:10.61. The personal best time is good for sixth fastest in program history and gave the senior a heat four victory. She finished third among the field of 54 open heat runners. Timing wise, Alex Lomeli was not far behind with a personal best time of 2:11.69, moving her up to eighth on the all-time list. She finished fourth in her heat and fifth among the open heat runners.
 
Overall, six Aztec runners posted new personal bests on Saturday.
 
Ashley Callahan led the Aztec pole vaulters with a season-best clearance of 4.10m (13-05.25) in the Section A flight. She finished sixth overall of the 41 vaulters competing on the day.
 
Jordan Leveque finished 21st in the invitational section of pole vault, clearing 3.65m (11-11.75) while Kayla Tassara finished seventh in the open section with a season-best mark of 3.45m (11-3.75).
 
Next on the schedule is a return to New Mexico for the UNM Classic next weekend. The two-day meet will begin Friday, Feb. 2 and streamed live on Flo Track.
