Aztecs Cruise to 79-54 Win over Boise State

SAN DIEGO – The Aztec women's basketball team (14-9, 5-4) cruised to a 79-54 win over Boise State (13-8, 4-4) inside Viejas Arena Saturday for their third win in a row.

SDSU forced a season-high 25 turnovers which led to 30 points and scored a season-high 79 points against the best defense in the Mountain West.

"I'm proud of our defensive effort," Head coach Stacie Terry-Hutson said. "We moved the ball. took care of it and created easy shots. We played unselfish basketball against a very good defensive team."

Adryana Quezada led the Aztecs with 19 points on an efficient 8-for-12 shooting. Kim Villalobos had 17 points and Abby Prohaska had 10 with six assists.

SDSU used a 7-0 run to close out the first quarter with a 20-11 lead.

The Aztecs then made their first four shots of the second quarter which gave them a 30-16 lead. SDSU would lead by double-digits for the rest of the way, despite not making a basket for the final eight minutes of the second quarter.

SDSU scored 10 points in the first two minutes of the third quarter, putting them up 16.

The Aztecs kept their foot on the gas pedal and led by as much as 33 points.

SDSU shot 50 percent from the floor and from three and were 12-for-15 from the line.

Boise State was led by Natalie Pasco's 15 points.

The Aztecs set season-highs in points (79), turnovers forced (25), points off turnovers (30) and steals (16).

THE NOTE I
This was the Aztecs' biggest win over Boise State since the 2012-13 season.

Khylee Pepe had a career-high five steals.
