LOGAN, Utah – Behind a 50-point second half and a breakout night from freshman Mia Davis, the Aztec women's basketball team (13-8, 4-4) won at Utah State (3-16, 0-8) 76-62 Wednesday evening. SDSU had 24 assists (on 27 made field goals), their most since Feb. 4, 2023.

Mia Davis scored a career-high 18 points, scoring 17 of those with five three-pointers in the second half.

"We've seen this type of game coming for Mia," Head coach Stacie Terry-Hutson said after the game. "She's a knockdown shooter who has worked really hard to get back [from injuries], and this is going to be a great confidence booster for her."

Adryana Quezada led SDSU with 20 points and eight rebounds in her first game against Utah State since transferring from there.

Kim Villalobos (13 points) and Abby Prohaska (11 points) also scored in double-digits and Prohaska dished out a career-high nine assists.

The Aztecs missed their first eight shots, but their defense kept the Aggies close. At one point, SDSU held Utah State to one make in 12 attempts.

SDSU trailed by two at the half and the Aggies took an eight-point lead early in the third quarter, but then SDSU went on an 18-3 run fueled by three-pointers and turnovers created.

"Utah State came out and gave us a few good punches, but I was happy with the way we came back in the second half. It's always god to win a road game in conference," Terry-Hutson explained.

The Aztecs had 25 points in the third quarter with 11 coming from Davis and 10 coming off Aggie turnovers.

SDSU scored another 25 points in the fourth quarter and had two separate 7-0 runs. The Aztecs ended up outscoring Utah State 50-34 in the second half.

The Aztecs were 13-for-16 from the free throw line with Quezada going a perfect 8-for-8.
