Aztec Tidbits
• SDSU is coming off a 63-51 win over San Jose State Saturday, which snapped a season-long three-game losing streak.
• The Aztecs held a 42-21 lead at the half, their highest scoring half of the season.
• SDSU forced 23 turnovers and outscored the Spartans 20-6 in points off turnovers.
• The Aztecs had 13 fast break points, their most vs. a DI opponent this season.
• Adryana Quezada led SDSU with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
• SDSU is committing just 12.3 turnovers per game, the 12th fewest in the nation.
• The Aztecs are averaging 39.1 rebounds per game in conference play despite not having a player taller than 6'.
• SDSU is third in the Mountain West in conference play in rebounds per game (39.1), opponent three-point percentage (30.3%) and blocks per game (4.4).
• SDSU has four players averaging at least 10 points per game: Adryana Quezada (14.7), Abby Prohaska (11.2), Kim Villalobos (10.6) and Jada Lewis (10.3).
• The Aztecs have had seven different players score in double-digits this year.
• SDSU's starting lineup features two sixth year seniors (Barcello and Prohaska), two fifth year seniors (Lewis and Quezada) and a fourth-year senior (Villalobos). This is believed to be the most experienced starting five in the nation.
• Kim Villalobos has had a double-double in four of the last six games.
• In conference play, Villalobos is averaging 12.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.6 blocks per game. Her 9.3 rebounds per game are the second most in the conference.
• Adryana Quezada is one of five players in the nation to have at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 100 assists in their career while averaging at least 14.0 points per game and shooting at least 52% from the field.
• Quezada is fourth in the Mountain West in field goal percentage (54.5%).
• Abby Prohaska leads the conference and is 20th in the nation with a free throw percentage of 89.7%.
• Over the last two seasons, the Aztecs are 22-7 at home and 19-7 in non-conference games.
• SDSU won at least nine non-conference games for the second season in a row. It's the first time they've done that in back-to-back seasons since 2011-12 and 2012-13.
• SDSU has gone to overtime four times this season, tied for the most in program history. They didn't go to OT once last season.
• All four of SDSU's 2024 recruits were nominated for the McDonald's All-American game: guards Kaelyn Hamilton (McKinney, Texas), Natalia Martinez (San Leandro, Calif.) and Naomi Panganiban (La Jolla, Calif.) and forward Bailey Barnhard (San Diego).
Opponent Notebook (Utah State)
• The Aggies are 3-15 overall and 0-7 in conference.
• They have lost 12 games in a row.
• They are 2-7 at home.
• They attempt the most free throws per game in the conference.
• They are last in the conference in points per game (55.2) and points per game allowed (70.8)
• Cheyenne Stubbs leads the team in scoring (15.4 ppg), rebounding (4.1 rpg) and assists (2.2 apg).
• Head coach Kayla Ard is in her fourth season at Utah State.
• The Aztecs lead the all-time series 13-7 and are 10-7 against the Aggies since they joined the Mountain West.
• SDSU is 15-2 against SJSU at home.
• The Aztecs have won each of the last four meetings and six of the last seven.
• SDSU and Utah State only played once last year. The Aztecs won 89-55, their largest margin of victory against them since they joined the Mountain West.
Player Notes
• Kim Villalobos (Los Angeles), SDSU's starting forward, leads the Aztecs in assists, blocks and steals.
• In conference play, Villalobos is second in the Mountain West in rebounding (9.3 rpg), fifth in steals (1.9 spg) and six in blocks (1.6 bpg). She is the only player in the conference in the top six in all three categories.
• Villalobos has eight career double-doubles and four of them have come in the last six games.
• Villalobos has had at least three steals in each of the last three games, averaging 3.3 per game over that span.
• Villalobos stuffed the stat sheet vs. Westcliff earlier this year and became just the second Aztec in the Mountain West era (1999-present) to have at least 15 points, seven rebounds, six steals and five assists in a game, joining SDSU Hall of Famer Jené Morris.
• Adryana Quezada (Frisco, Texas) is shooting a career-high 54.5% from the floor, which is fourth in the Mountain West.
• She has scored in double-digits in all but three games.
• Quezada is shooting 86.4% from the free throw line in conference play, third amongst qualified players.
• Against Penn, she became the first Aztec since 2020, and just seventh in the Mountain West era, to have at least 20 points, nine rebounds and five assists in a game. Out of those seven, Quezada accomplished the feat in the fewest number of minutes.
• Jada Lewis (Rocklin, Calif.) is 71-for-82 (86.6%) from the free throw line in her career.
• Lewis is third in the Mountain West in minutes per game (33.8).
• On Saturday, Lewis collected her 400th career rebound.
• Both Lewis and Quezada have over 1,100 career points.
• Abby Prohaska (Liberty Township, Ohio) leads the Mountain West and is 20th in the nation in free throw percentage (89.7%) this season. She has shot 86.4% from the line in her career (146-169) and 88.6% (101-114) while at SDSU.
• Prohaska is averaging career-highs in minutes, points, rebounds, assists and three-point percentage.
• Sarah Barcello (Phoenix, Ariz.) is closing in on 800 points for her career. She currently has 794 points.
• Barcello is averaging career-highs in minutes per game (31.7) and field goal percentage (.457) and her three-point percentage of 35.9% is her best since her freshman year at Marist (41% in 2018-19).
• Khylee Pepe (Long Beach, Calif.) had a career-high three blocks vs. San Jose State Saturday.
• Jazlen Green (Upland, Calif.) joined the Aztecs after the semester break. She averaged 9.1 points and made 97 threes in 51 games at Cal.
