SAN DIEGO – The Aztec women's basketball team (12-8, 3-4) knocked off San Jose State (6-12, 1-4) 63-51 inside Viejas Arena Saturday afternoon.
"I was proud of our effort. We have done a great job defensively the last two games," Head coach Stacie Terry-Hutson said after the game. "We've worked really hard on that and have been attentive in practice and followed the game plan."
The Aztecs were led by Adryana Quezada who had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Sarah Barcello also had double-digits, finishing with 13 points. All nine Aztecs that played scored.
SDSU went on an 11-0 run to close out the first quarter and then held a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game.
The Aztecs shot 50 percent in the first half while holding the Spartans to a 30 percent clip to take a 20-point lead into the halftime break.
The Aztecs struggled with turnovers in the second half allowing the Spartans to outscore SDSU in the second half.
The Spartans cut into SDSU's lead in the fourth quarter but never got within single digits.
SJSU was led by Amhiya Moreland's 18 points.

THE NOTE
Judy Porter (Wonders), SDSU's all-time leader in points, rebounds, and steals, was honored at halftime. Her jersey was hung from the Viejas Arena rafters Wednesday.
