SAN DIEGO – San Diego State topped Nevada 71-59 on Wednesday night to move to a perfect 12-0 against the Wolf Pack in Viejas Arena during the Mountain West era.
 
The Aztecs (15-3, 4-1 Mountain West) dominated the glass, outrebounding the Wolf Pack (15-3, 2-2 MW) 44-25 including a 20-7 advantage on the offensive end. San Diego State also owned a 15-2 advantage in fast break points and made 22 free throws compared to Nevada's seven from the stripe.
 
The game started with a Nevada score on the first possession of the night, but the Aztecs responded with 10 unanswered points to take control early. They would have a hot hand for the entirety of the first half, shooting 52.0% (13-of-25) from the field while holding the Wolf Pack to 37.5% (9-of-24) including 0-of-10 from beyond the arc. It led to a 14-point SDSU advantage heading into halftime.
 
However, Nevada came out of the break red hot, hitting 10 of their first 13 shots in the second half to tie the game with 11 minutes remaining.
 
In need of a momentum change, Lamont Butler managed a strip steal and fastbreak the other direction for a layup to end the SDSU scoring drought immediately followed by a Reese Waters three-pointer from to force a Nevada timeout.
 
The Wolf Pack came out of their personal timeout and scored five straight points of their own to even the score once again. After the under-eight media timeout, Jaedon LeDee took over with a 6-0 scoring run by himself to put the Aztecs back in front for good.
 
San Diego State wrapped up the night on a 18-6 scoring run to polish off their 71-59 triumph for their fourth win in Mountain West play.
 
LeDee recorded his ninth double-double of the year, leading the game with 22 points and 12 rebounds. It is his sixth game this season with at least 20 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Waters and Jay Pal nearly recorded double-doubles of their own in the win. Waters finished the night with 14 points and seven rebounds while Pal had eight points and 10 rebounds.
 
The Aztecs are back on the road for their next game heading into Idaho for a matchup against Boise State. Tipoff will be at 10 a.m. PT on CBS.
