LOS ANGELES – Three San Diego State student-athletes advanced to the finals of the 3-meter springboard Saturday, as the Bruin Diving Invitational wrapped up the second day of competition at Spieker Aquatics Center on the UCLA campus.
 
Once again, the Aztec delegation was paced by junior Valentina Lopez Arevalo, who finished seventh out of 18 divers with a two-round score of 565.35, surpassing an NCAA Zone qualifying standard in the final round with 294.00 points.
 
In addition, freshman Alina Skrocki was slotted 13th in the event with an aggregate total of 516.70, including a mark of 269.65 points in the finals, while junior Summer Westmoreland (492.95) landed in the 17th spot overall, aided by a preliminary score of 258.85 points.
 
SDSU's three competitors tied USC for the highest number of divers in the 3-meter finals, while UCLA, Hawai'i, Minnesota and Northern Arizona had two apiece, followed by Stanford, Utah, BYU and UNLV with one each.
 
Lauren Hallaselka of the host Bruins (675.30) captured the event title on Saturday, topping Minnesota's Viviana Del Angel (617.35) and fellow teammate Zoe Jespersgaard (610.85) for the crown.
 
The Scarlet and Black was also represented by freshman Jessica Schroeder, who finished the preliminary round in 23rd place with 241.55 points, followed by senior Jules Harrison (25th – 237.50), sophomore Taylor Konopacke (27th – 235.60) and junior Olivia Zamudio (44th – 215.90).
 
The Bruin Diving Invitational concludes on Saturday at Spieker Aquatics center with the preliminary round of the women's platform competition, beginning at 10:30 a.m. PT.
 
Along with host UCLA, the Aztecs are squaring off against divers from several schools this weekend, including Brigham Young, California Baptist, Hawai'i, Minnesota, Northern Arizona, Pepperdine, Southern California, Stanford, Utah and Wisconsin, as well as fellow Mountain West rivals Fresno State, San José State and UNLV.
