SAN DIEGO – The Aztec women's basketball team (9-4) begins Mountain West play Saturday Dec. 30 when they host Colorado State (9-2) at 1 p.m.
 
Aztec Tidbits
• SDSU enters the weekend on a five-game winning streak after beating Kennesaw State (75-52) and Florida Atlantic (75-48) in the West Palm Beach Classic prior to Christmas.
• This is the Aztecs' second win streak of at least four games, and they have now won nine of their last 11 games.
• SDSU has won at least nine games in non-conference play for the second season in a row. It's the first time they've done that in back-to-back seasons since 2011-12 and 2012-13.
• The Aztecs' nine wins are tied with Colorado State, Boise State and New Mexico for the second-most wins in the Mountain West.
• Against Florida Atlantic, SDSU had a season-high 34 bench points led by Meghan Fiso's team-high 13. Freshman Mia Davis, playing in just her third game, had a career-high eight points.
• The Aztecs held Kennesaw State and Florida Atlantic to 32% shooting from the field and 17% from three.
Abby Prohaska was named to the West Palm Beach Classic All-Tournament Team after averaging 9.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists. Against Florida Atlantic, she had a career-high 14 rebounds.
Adryana Quezada surpassed 1,000 points and 500 career rebounds against Kennesaw State. She is one nine players in the nation to surpass those totals while averaging at least 14.0 points per game and shooting at least 52% from the field.
 • Quezada leads the Mountain West in field goal percentage (58.5%) and made field goals (83)
Abby Prohaska is 12th in the nation with a free throw percentage of 90.9%
• Over the last two seasons, the Aztecs are 19-7 in non-conference games.
• SDSU has three players averaging at least 10 points per game: Adryana Quezada (15.2), Abby Prohaska (11.0), and Jada Lewis (11.0). Kim Villalobos averages 9.8 points.
• The Aztecs have had five different players lead the team in scoring this year.
• SDSU leads the Mountain West with 13.0 made free throws per game and their free throw percentage of 79.7% is 14th in the nation.
• The Aztecs are committing just 12.4 turnovers per game, 16th in the nation.
• SDSU is averaging 8.5 steals per game and has four players averaging at least one steal per game (Villalobos, Pepe, Quezada and Prohaska). Since the beginning of last year, the Aztecs have had more steals than their opponent in 34 of their 45 games.
• The Aztecs commit just 13.8 fouls per game (27th in the nation) and attempt 4.6 more free throws per game than their opponents.
• SDSU's starting lineup features two sixth year seniors (Barcello and Prohaska), two fifth year seniors (Lewis and Quezada) and a fourth-year senior (Villalobos). This is believed to be the most experienced starting five in the nation.
• SDSU announced the signings of four recruits to National Letters of Intent: guards Kaelyn Hamilton (McKinney, Texas), Natalia Martinez (San Leandro, Calif.) and Naomi Panganiban (San Diego) and forward Bailey Barnhard (San Diego).
 
Player Notes
Adryana Quezada (Frisco, Texas) is shooting a career-high 58.5% from the floor, which leads the Mountain West.
• She has scored in double-digits in all but one game.
• Against Penn, she became the first Aztec since 2020, and just seventh in the Mountain West era, to have at least 20 points, nine rebounds and five assists in a game. Out of those seven, Quezada accomplished the feat in the fewest number of minutes.
Abby Prohaska (Liberty Township, Ohio) leads the Mountain West and is 12th in the nation in free throw percentage (90.9%) this season. She has shot 86.5% from the line in her career (134-155) and 89.0% (89-100) while at SDSU.
Kim Villalobos (Los Angeles), SDSU's starting forward, leads the Aztecs in both blocks and steals and is second in assists. She had a career-high eight assists vs. Florida Atlantic.
• She has 492 career rebounds.
• Villalobos stuffed the stat sheet vs. Westcliff earlier this year and became just the second Aztec in the Mountain West era (1999-present) to have at least 15 points, 7 rebounds, 6 steals and 5 assists in a game, joining SDSU Hall of Famer Jené Morris.
Khylee Pepe (Long Beach, Calif.), SDSU's backup post, has had at least one steal in every game but one.
Jada Lewis (Rocklin, Calif.) is 65-for-76 (85.5%) from the free throw line in her career.
• Lewis is second in the Mountain West in minutes per game (34.1).
Sarah Barcello (Phoenix, Ariz.) is averaging career best percentages from the field (46.6%) and from the free throw line (81.8%) and her three-point percentage of 33.3% is her best since her freshman year at Marist in 2018-19.
Meghan Fiso (Seattle, Wash.) led the Aztecs with 13 points vs. Florida Atlantic and set a new career-high with 15 points vs. Penn earlier this season.
Mia Davis (Phoenix, Ariz.) scored a career-high eight points vs. Florida Atlantic.
Emaya Trahan (Los Angeles) scored her first career basket vs. Florida Atlantic.
 
Opponent Notebook (Colorado State)
• The Rams are 9-2 on the year and have a NET ranking of 61, the second best in the Mountain West.
• They are 4-1 away from home.
• Their two losses came against Long Beach State (77-76) and Mississippi State (82-75).
• They commit just 8.7 turnovers per game, the fewest in the nation and have an assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.84, second best in the nation.
• They lead the conference in threes made and attempted per game and are also first in three-point percentage (39.4%) and three-point percentage defense (24.5%)
• They have a rebound margin of -7.1 per game.
• McKenna Hofschild averages 22.1 points per game and leads the nation with 8.5 assists per game. She shoots 45% from three.
• Head coach Ryun Williams (12th season) has over 200 wins at CSU and over 500 total.
• SDSU leads the all-time series 33-32 and is 20-10 against the Rams at home.
• The Aztecs have won the last four meetings in San Diego and six of the last nine overall.
