Lopez Arevalo Wins 1-Meter Event at Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – San Diego State's Valentina Lopez Arevalo captured the individual title in the 1-meter springboard on Friday to lead the Aztec diving delegation at the Riverside Collegiate Invitational.
 
In the lone women's event of the day, Lopez Arevalo took home the crown with a season-best 297.90 points, eclipsing an NCAA Zone qualifying standard in the process.
 
All of SDSU's entrants in the 1-meter competition advanced to the final round, as the Scarlet and Black grabbed the top six spots at Riverside Aquatics Center.
 
Alina Skrocki (264.05) just missed a NCAA Zone qualifying score by 0.95 points after landing in the second spot with a season-high total of her own, while Summer Westmoreland (261.30) finished third.
 
The Aztec contingent also featured Olivia Zamudio, who compiled a season-best 253.05 points, followed by Jules Harrison (234.15) and Taylor Konopacke (232.10), the latter of whom also netted a season-high point total in the round.
 
San Diego State wraps up its weekend excursion to the Riverside Collegiate Invitational on Saturday when it competes in the 3-meter springboard and platform events, starting at 9:15 a.m. PT.
