SAN DIEGO – The Aztec women's basketball team (7-4) will wrap up non-conference play at the West Palm Beach Classic where they'll face Kennesaw State (Dec. 20) and Florida Atlantic.
 
Aztec Tidbits
• The games will be streamed on PassTheBallLive, which requires a subscription, and Chris Ello will have the call on the Aztec Radio Network.
• SDSU is coming off a 69-61 win at Seattle on Dec. 11. The Aztecs have won three games in a row and seven of their last nine.
• At Seattle, Adryana Quezada led SDSU with 20 points with 18 coming in the first half. Jada Lewis scored 19 with 16 coming in the second half.
Abby Prohaska stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals.
• Freshman Mia Davis made her collegiate debut in Seattle, playing 10 minutes off the bench.
Adryana Quezada was named the Mountain West Player of the Week for her performance at Seattle.
 • Quezada is closing in on both 1,000 points and 500 rebounds for her career. She enters the week with 994 points and 497 rebounds.
• Over the last two seasons, the Aztecs are 17-7 in non-conference games.
• SDSU has three players averaging at least 10 points per game: Adryana Quezada (15.4), Abby Prohaska (11.4), and Jada Lewis (11.1). Kim Villalobos averages 9.7 points.
• Quezada leads the Mountain West in field goal percentage (58.2%).
• SDSU leads the Mountain West with 13.5 made free throws per game and their free throw percentage of 78.3% is 1st in the nation. Abby Prohaska is shooting 90.9% from the line on the year, first in the Mountain West.
• The Aztecs are committing just 12.5 turnovers per game, 18th in the nation.
• SDSU's starting lineup features two sixth year seniors (Barcello and Prohaska), two fifth year seniors (Lewis and Quezada) and a fourth-year senior (Villalobos). This is believed to be the most experienced starting five in the nation.
• SDSU is averaging 9.0 steals per game and has four players averaging at least one steal per game (Villalobos, Pepe, Quezada and Prohaska). Since the beginning of last year, the Aztecs have had more steals than their opponent in 33 of their 44 games.
• This is the Aztecs' second straight year playing in the West Palm Beach Classic. They split their two games last year, beating Miami (Ohio) and falling to Georgia.
• SDSU announced the signings of four recruits to National Letters of Intent: guards Kaelyn Hamilton (McKinney, Texas), Natalia Martinez (San Leandro, Calif.) and Naomi Panganiban (San Diego) and forward Bailey Barnhard (San Diego).
 
Player Notes
Adryana Quezada (Frisco, Texas) is shooting a career-high 58.2% from the floor, which leads the Mountain West.
• She has scored in double-digits in all but one game.
• Quezada has 994 career points. She scored 400 at UT San Antonio (13.8 ppg), 425 at Utah State (15.2 ppg) and 169 this season at SDSU (15.4 ppg).
• Against Penn, she became the first Aztec since 2020, and just seventh in the Mountain West era, to have at least 20 points, nine rebounds and five assists in a game. Out of those seven, Quezada accomplished the feat in the fewest number of minutes.
Abby Prohaska (Liberty Township, Ohio) leads the Mountain West and is 18th in the nation in free throw percentage (90.9%) this season. She has shot 86.5% from the line in her career (134-155) and 89.0% (89-100) while at SDSU.
Kim Villalobos (Los Angeles), SDSU's starting forward, leads the Aztecs in both blocks and steals.
• She has 484 career rebounds.
• Villalobos stuffed the stat sheet vs. Westcliff earlier this year and became just the second Aztec in the Mountain West era (1999-present) to have at least 15 points, 7 rebounds, 6 steals and 5 assists in a game, joining SDSU Hall of Famer Jené Morris.
Khylee Pepe (Long Beach, Calif.), SDSU's backup post, has had at least one steal in every game but one.
Jada Lewis (Rocklin, Calif.) is 63-for-74 (85.1%) from the free throw line in her career.
• Lewis is second in the Mountain West in minutes per game (34.3).
Sarah Barcello (Phoenix, Ariz.) is averaging career best percentages from the field (44.4%) and from the free throw line (81.0%) and her three-point percentage of 33.3% is her best since her freshman year at Marist in 2018-19.
Meghan Fiso (Seattle, Wash.) set a new career-high with 15 points vs. Penn.
 
Opponent Notebook (Kennesaw State)
• The Owls are 3-6 on the year.
• They are 0-4 away from home.
• They are coming off a 65-54 home loss to Belmont on Dec. 17.
• They lead the ASUN in blocks (4.0) and offensive rebounds per game (15.2)
• They shoot just 35.7% from the floor and 20.8% from three.
• Prencis Harden leads the team with 12.3 points per game.
• Kyndall Golden averages 2.2 blocks per game.
• Head coach Octavia Blue (3rd season) was the fastest KSU coach to 27 wins in their DI history.
• This is the first ever meeting between the two programs and SDSU's first time playing a team from the Atlantic Sun.
 
Opponent Notebook (Florida Atlantic)
• The Owls are 4-5 on the year.
• They are 1-3 away from home.
• They are coming off a 46-45 home loss to Howard on Dec. 16
• This is their first year in the American Athletic Conference.
• They are holding opponents to 60.7 points and 36% shooting.
• They average just 9.7 assists per game and have an assist-to-turnover ratio of 0.58.
• Aniya Hubbard, last year's Conference USA Freshman of the Year, leads the team in scoring with 18.2 points per game but has missed the last three games.
• Jeneta Rozentale averages 9.9 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.
• Head coach Jennifer Sullivan is in her third season at FAU.
• This is the first ever meeting between the two programs.
