SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women's tennis team continued play in the SDSU Fall Classic II on Saturday at the Aztec Tennis Center. Aztec players competed in four singles and two doubles matches with Rania Azziz winning in both.
Azziz faced Oregon's Nina Geissler in her semifinals singles match. After a 6-3 first set victory, Azziz blanked the Duck to take the second 6-0 and advance to the finals in her bracket. She will go for the title against Nevada's Lou Anne Guerbert.
Azziz played doubles with Andjela Skrobonja against Oregon's Uxia Martinez Moral and Sophie Luescher. In a close match, the Aztecs came out on top 6-4.
In her singles match, Skrobonja battled Colorado's Betina Tokac. After taking the first set 6-2, Skrobonja dropped the second 6-3. The pair opted to decide the match with a ten-point tiebreaker which went to Tokac by the score of 10-6.
Zoe Olmos played singles against Oregon's Karin Young but was dropped in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.
Coming off a win in her singles match yesterday, Gloria Alogo drew Aya El Sayad, of Colorado, in her semifinals match. She was bested 6-3, 6-2.
In doubles, Olmos played with Andreea Velcea. The Aztec duo went up against Colorado State's Viktoriya Zhadzinskaya and Logan Voeks but could not come up with a win in a 6-2 defeat.
