SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State women's tennis team finished play in the SDSU Fall Classic II on Sunday at the Aztec Tennis Center. Four Aztec players competed in three singles and two doubles matches on the final day of fall competition, winning both doubles matches.

Two of San Diego State's returners from last season, Andjela Skrobonja and Rania Azziz played doubles together. They faced Oregon's Jo Yee Chan and Nina Geissler. The Aztecs picked up a 6-3 victory.

The other SDSU doubles team, Gloria Alogo and Zoe Olmos drew Colorado's Elys Ventura and Ellen Puzak. They won by the same score as their teammates.

In her singles match, Skrobonja went up against Pauline Ernstberger, of Boise State. After taking the first set 6-3, she dropped the second 6-1. The deciding tiebreaker was back and forth but Skrobonja ran out of steam, falling 12-10.

In the finals of her bracket, Azziz faced off with Nevada's Lou Anne Guerbert. She was bested 6-2 in the first set but bounced back to take the second by the same score. Azziz was unable to complete the comeback, falling 6-3 in the deciding third set.

Olmos played Oregon's Tilde Jagare but struggled to get much going in a 6-0, 6-4 defeat.

Today was the final day of San Diego State's fall schedule. The Aztecs' spring schedule begins on January 20 at the Aztec Tennis Center with a match against UC San Diego at noon PT.
