SAN DIEGO – The Aztec women's basketball team (4-3) hosts No. 3/3 Stanford inside Viejas Arena Friday at 11 a.m.
 
Aztec Tidbits
• This is their annual field trip game where local elementary schools attend the game.
• This is the first time the Aztecs have hosted a top-three opponent since Dec. 21, 2007 (UConn).
• SDSU is coming off a 77-71 overtime loss to UC San Diego.
• The Aztecs shot 50 percent in regulation but then missed their first 10 shots in overtime.
• SDSU had four players score in double-figures: Villalobos (16), Prohaska (15), Quezada (14) and Lewis (13).
• The Aztecs are in the midst of five straight home games. Over the last two years, SDSU is 18-5 at home.
• SDSU has four players averaging at least 10 points per game: Adryana Quezada (14.3), Jada Lewis (11.1), Abby Prohaska (11.1), and Kim Villalobos (10.4). Sarah Barcello is averaging 9.1 points per game.
• SDSU is second in the Mountain West with 14.0 made free throws per game and their free throw percentage of 80.3% is 15th in the nation. Abby Prohaska is shooting 91.2% from the line on the year, the best in the Mountain West.
Adryana Quezada is first in the Mountain West in made field goals (44) and second in field goal percentage (57.9%)
• The Aztec starting lineup features two sixth year seniors (Barcello and Prohaska), two fifth year seniors (Lewis and Quezada) and a fourth-year senior (Villalobos). This is believed to be the most experienced starting five in the nation.
• SDSU is averaging 10.3 steals per game and has six players averaging at least one steal per game (Villalobos, Pepe, Quezada, Prohaska, Barcello and Lewis). Since the beginning of last year, the Aztecs have had more steals than their opponent in 32 of their 41 games.
• The Aztecs currently have three players (all newcomers) out with injury: Erin Houpt, Trinity Zamora and Mia Davis.
• SDSU announced the signings of four recruits to National Letters of Intent: guards Kaelyn Hamilton (McKinney, Texas), Natalia Martinez (San Leandro, Calif.) and Naomi Panganiban (San Diego) and forward Bailey Barnhard (San Diego).
  
Player Notes
Adryana Quezada (Frisco, Texas) has scored in double-digits in six of SDSU's seven games. In her career, she has scored in double-digits in 44 of her 64 games.
• Against Penn, she Quezada the first Aztec since 2020, and just seventh in the Mountain West era, to have at least 20 points, nine rebounds and five assists in a game. Out of those seven, Quezada accomplished the feat in the fewest number of minutes.
• Quezada is shooting 57.9% from the floor, which is second in the Mountain West.
Abby Prohaska (Liberty Township, Ohio) leads the Mountain West in free throw percentage (91.2%) this season. She is 125-for-145 from the free throw line in her career (86.2%). She shot 87.5% last year, the fourth best ever in a single-season by an Aztec.
Kim Villalobos (Los Angeles) stuffed the stat sheet vs. Westcliff last week and became just the second Aztec in the Mountain West era (1999-present) to have at least 15 points, 7 rebounds, 6 steals and 5 assists in a game, joining SDSU Hall of Famer Jené Morris.
• Villalobos and Quezada, SDSU's starting post players, lead the Aztecs in assists.
• Villalobos and Khylee Pepe (Long Beach, Calif.), SDSU's backup post, lead the team in steals. Villalobos had four steals vs. UC San Diego Tuesday.
Jada Lewis (Rocklin, Calif.) is shooting 36.9% from three in her career (105 games).
• Lewis is 56-for-64 (87.5%) from the free throw line in her career.
• Lewis is 16 points away from 1,000 in her career.
Sarah Barcello (Phoenix, Ariz.) tied a career-high with seven rebounds vs. UC San Diego Tuesday.
Meghan Fiso (Seattle, Wash.) set a new career-high with 15 points Saturday vs. Penn.
 
Opponent Notebook (No. 3/3 Stanford)
• The Cardinal are 7-0 on the year and ranked No. 3 in both the AP and coaches poll.
• This will be their first true road game of the year.
• They have played two ranked teams and beat both by double-digits (96-64 vs. No. 9 Indiana; 100-88 vs. No. 13 Florida State).
• Their +21.7 rebound margin is third in the country.
• They commit just 12.4 turnovers per game, but force only 11.9
• Cameron Brink averages 18.9 points, 12.1 rebounds and 3.9 blocks per game.
• Kiki Iriafen averages 19.7 points, 10.3 rebounds and shoots 60.8 percent from the floor.
• Hall of fame coach Tara Vanderveer (38th season) is a 17-time Pac-12 Coach of the Year and five-time national coach of the year.
• The Aztecs are 4-5 all-time vs. Stanford. They have played just two times in the past 30 years. Stanford beat SDSU 86-48 in the season opener last year.
 
Opponent Notebook (Cal State Los Angeles)
• Cal State Los Angeles is 3-1 on the year.
• They have scored 79 or more points in all three of their wins.
• They play at Cal State San Marcos Thursday for their CCAA opener and then play at Sonoma State Saturday.
• They are shooting 45.4% from the floor and holding opponents to 36.3% shooting.
• They are shooting 46.5% from three.
• Nicole Flennaugh leads the team with 17.5 points per game.
• Head coach Torino Johnson (5th season) led the Golden Eagles to their first NCAA appearance since 2012 last year.
• The Aztecs are 4-2 all-time vs. CSULA. SDSU beat them 72-57 Nov. 9, 2021. Their previous five meetings were all between 1976 and 1979.
