SAN DIEGO – The Aztec women's basketball team (4-3) lost in overtime to UC San Diego (3-4) 77-71 inside Viejas Arena Tuesday evening.
SDSU had four players finish in double-figures led by Kim Villalobos' 16. Abby Prohaska had 15 points, Adryana Quezada had 14 and Jada Lewis added 13.
The Aztecs forced just one turnover in the first half and the Tritons got hot from downtown, making seven of their first 11 three-pointers to go up by as much as 12 points.
SDSU started to string together some makes in the second quarter and finished the half on an 11-4 run to trail 39-34 at the halftime break.
UC San Diego's accuracy from three continued in the early moments of the second half when they made four of their first five threes.
The Aztecs finally grabbed the lead behind an 11-0 run in the fourth quarter. The Tritons then followed that with their own 8-1 run.
The game was tied with 1:20 left at 69-69, but neither team could find the bottom of the net. Abby Prohaska had a driving lay-up through contact with five seconds left that rimmed out.
In overtime, the Aztecs missed their first 10 shots as the Tritons pulled away.

The Tritons were 13-for-25 from three, the most three-pointers the Aztecs have allowed since Feb. 20, 2021 (Fresno State).
