Aztecs Coast to 20-Point Win Over PLNU

SAN DIEGO — Three Aztecs scored in double figures led by senior forward Jaedon LeDee's 15 points, 13 rebound double double, his fourth in seven games this season, as San Diego State beat Point Loma Nazarene 71-51 on Monday evening at Steve Fisher Court at Viejas Arena.

Junior wing Reese Waters shot 4-of-9 from the floor, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range, and was 3-of-3 from the free throw line for 14 points and added four rebounds, two assists and a steal. Lamont Butler, a senior guard, had 10 points shooting 4-of-9 from the field with three rebounds, three assists and a steal. Senior guard Darrion Trammell finished with a game-highs of five assists and three steals while totaling eight points.

Point Loma Nazarene hit two early 3-pointers to forge a 6-2 lead, but the Aztecs (6-1) responded with a 14-0 run over the next 3:38 of game time to turn that four-point deficit into a 16-6 advantage and never looked back. SDSU led by 15 at the half on its way to a 20-point victory.

San Diego State shot 45.6 percent for the game (26-of-57) while limiting the Sea Lions (4-3) to just 29.3 percent (17-of-58). It is SDSU's 15th straight win when holding its opponent to under 35 percent and the team improved to 50-2 in Brian Dutcher era when holding its opponent to less than 35 percent.

Luke Smith led the way for the Sea Lions with 19 points. Zack Paulsen added 13 points, six rebounds and two steals.
