SAN DIEGO – The San Diego State water polo program announced the signing of National Letters of Intent of Julianne Stark and Delanney Ewing on Tuesday. Both will be eligible to begin competing for the Aztecs starting during the 2024-25 school year.

"The coaching staff and I are thrilled to be adding two incredibly well rounded and dynamic players like Julianne and Delanney," water polo head coach Dana Ochsner said. "Both athletes come from programs where they have demonstrated strong leadership and a high level of physical excellence, and we believe they will be a great fit for our Aztec family."

Stark wears the No. 7 cap and is out of Monte Vista High School in Danville, Calif. Coming into this year, she is a three-time varsity letterwinner and was the team's co-captain in her junior campaign. As a sophomore she was an East Bay Valley League all-conference honoree as well as a USA Water Polo Academic All-American.

In 2019, Stark was a member of the first-place team at the ODP National Championship and in the second-place team at the 2021 18U bracket of the Futures Water Polo League. In addition, she was a member of 680 Water Polo in 2022 and has won both gold and bronze medals at the Junior Olympics. Stark swam for the Sycamore Stingrays last year and has been included on the Pac Zone team in 2019 and is currently a member of a Pac Zone team.

"From the moment I met Julianne, I knew she would be a great addition to our program," Ochsner said. "Her enthusiasm, dedication, and love of the sport is infectious and her accolades both in and out of the pool speak for themselves."

Ewing is a utility/driver who competes for Canyon High School in Anaheim Hills, Calif. She has been named an All-Crestview League honoree in each of her first three seasons. She was a second-team performer as a freshman and a first-team designee in each of the last two years.

In three high school seasons (68 games), she has scored 241 goals, has 81 assists, 115 steals and has drawn 59 ejections. From 2016 to 2022 Ewing competed for Socal Water Polo Club and this year has moved to North Irvine Water Polo Club.

"I am so excited to have Delanney as a future member of our team," stated Ochsner. "I believe her passion, leadership and fierce offensive prowess will be a great help to us in the pool in the upcoming years."

The Aztecs 2024 season opener is set for Friday, Jan. 19 in Fullerton, Calif., at Cal State Fullerton.
