Aztecs Race Past Sacramento State 68-45

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Aztec women's basketball team (2-2) cruised to a 68-45 win at Sacramento State (0-4) Saturday afternoon. SDSU led for nearly the entire game and put the game out of reach in the third quarter when they outscored the Hornets 24-5.

The Aztecs were led by Adryana Quezada who scored 20 points on 7-for-10 shooting.

"AD [Quezada] can make those tough shots," Head coach Stacie Terry-Hutson said after the game. "We expect to see more of that the rest of the season."

Abby Prohaska added 19 points on an efficient 6-for-9 shooting.

"Abby does everything we need," Terry-Hutson praised. "She's our best communicator, our best defender and now running the show [as a point guard] for us."

The Aztec defense helped them open up a big lead early in the game. SDSU forced eight first quarter turnovers to help them go up by as much as 13 points midway through the second quarter. However, the Hornets closed out the first half on a 13-4 run to cut their deficit to 31-27 entering the halftime break.

SDSU's defense continued to hound the Hornets in the second half, holding them to five points in the second half and 18 in the second half.

The Aztecs outscored Sac State 36-16 in the paint and had a 24-12 advantage in turnovers.

The Hornets were led by Summah Hanson's 19 points.
