SAN FRANCISCO – Four members of the Aztec men's soccer team earned All-Pac-12 honors, the conference office announced Tuesday, including Reid Fisher who was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.
Goalkeeper Logan Erb was named to the Pac-12 Second Team, while Fisher, Rommee Jaridly and Reid Sproat were honorable mention selections.
Fisher (Huntington Beach, Calif.), who redshirted last year, started all 18 matches at center back for the Aztecs and led the squad in minutes, playing 1,592 of 1,620 possible. Fisher was also an honorable mention selection.
"We are proud to see Reid's development over the last year," Head coach Ryan Hopkins said. "Nobody dedicates themselves more to individual improvement and I think these accolades directly correlate to his actions on the field."
This is the second straight year SDSU has had a player earn Pac-12 Freshman of the Year honors. CJ Fodrey, who along with Fisher, was part of the No. 1 rated 2022 recruiting class in the country according to Top Drawer Soccer.
Erb (Houston, Texas) led the Pac-12 with six shutouts in his first year as SDSU's starting goalkeeper. He allowed 1.1 goals per game and had a save percentage of 73.1%. Erb and the Aztecs were the last team in the nation to concede their first goal of the year, a span of 650 minutes.
SDSU has had a goalkeeper make the All-Pac-12 first or second team in each of the past three seasons. Jacob Castro was a first team pick in 2021 and made the second team last year.
Jaridly (Chino Hills, Calif.) was second on the team with 13 points, scoring four goals and dishing out five assists. He started all 17 matches he appeared in and his shot on goal percentage of 53.3% was the highest on the team among qualified players.
Sproat (Auburn, Ind.), along with Fisher, was the only Aztec to start all 18 matches. A graduate transfer from Oakland University, Sproat was a veteran stabilizer on SDSU's back line. He recently was tabbed the 14th best player in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer.
This is the second straight season, SDSU has had at least four players earn All-conference honors. Prior to last year, the Aztecs hadn't had four or more honorees since 2016.
