COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – San Diego State swimmer Reka Nyiradi was named Mountain West Freshman of the Week after helping the Aztecs capture three dual meets this past weekend in San Luis Obispo, California, as announced Tuesday by the conference office.

In SDSU's 150-135 triumph over Cal Poly on Sept. 29, Nyiradi posted the fastest time in two individual races, capturing one event title in the 200 freestyle with a clocking of 1:50.52. The Budapest, Hungary, native was also the first competitor to touch the wall in the 200 individual medley, finishing at 2:05.04, but with the Aztecs maintaining a big lead on the team scoreboard, the result was deemed an exhibition.

Nyiradi also swam the butterfly segment of SDSU's "B" team in the 200 medley relay that finished second on Friday at 1:46.26, as the Scarlet and Black claimed the top two spots.

In Saturday's double dual against the same Cal Poly squad and Fresno Pacific that featured a relay meet format, Nyiradi contributed to a pair of victorious teams, as the Aztecs defeated the host Mustangs 128-71 and the Sunbirds 132-28 to extend their winning streak to 54 consecutive dual meets dating back to Jan. 8, 2018.

Nyiradi was part of SDSU's triumphant 3x100 fly relay (2:52.15) and 800 free relay teams (7:44.67). In addition, the Aztec newcomer competed on a pair of squads that posted the second-fastest time in the 4x100 IM relay (4:04.36) and the 500 free relay (4:41.19). Likewise, those markes were considered exhibitions as well, with the Scarlet and Black comfortably ahead on the team scoreboard.

Nyiradi and the Aztecs will return to the competition pool on Thursday, Oct. 5, when they travel up the coast to face Pepperdine in a dual meet, starting at 10:30 a.m. PT in Malibu, California. San Diego State will continue its weekend venture with a quick trip to the Central Valley for the Fresno State Invitational, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 6-7, in Fresno, California.
