SAN DIEGO – The Aztec men's soccer team (6-2-4) and San Diego (8-3-2) played to a 1-1 draw in front of a record-breaking crowd at Snapdragon Stadium Saturday evening. SDSU is 6-1-1 in their last seven meetings with the Toreros.
3,632 fans were in attendance, a new Aztec program record, breaking the previous record by nearly 1,000.
"What a night for college soccer in San Diego," Head coach Ryan Hopkins said after the match. "We have a great soccer culture here and it was great to see the city show out tonight."
The Aztecs finished their non-conference slate undefeated (6-0-2) for the second time in the last three years.
It was a tightly contested affair all evening. The Aztecs scored first when Tristan Viviani, who was making his first start of the season, finished a nice through ball assist from Seth Clark in the 53rd minute.
The Toreros scored the equalizer in the 74th minute on a rocket from Mason Tunbridge.
"It was a battle between two teams that have been ranked for most of the year and it felt like an NCAA tournament match," Hopkins explained. "A draw was probably a fair result and now we look ahead to returning to Pac-12 play next week."
The Toreros outshot the Aztecs 11-4, but only 4-2 in shots on goal.

The Aztecs are undefeated (10-0-3) in their last 13 non-conference matches.
