SAN DIEGO – Following yesterday's rainout, Andjela Skrobonja and Zoe Olmos, of the San Diego State women's tennis team, were back in action in the USTA Intercollegiate Championships at the Hogan Tennis Center on the campus of the University of San Diego. The pair competed in both singles and doubles.

After Thursday's 6-2, 6-2 victory, the fifth seeded Skrobonja faced Raquel Gonzalez in the Round of 16. Skrobonja came out firing, taking the first set 6-2 before picking up a 6-4 win in the second to survive and advance to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, she would go up against the third seeded Claudia De Las Heras. In a tight battle, De Las Heras ended up on top 6-3, 7-5 to advance to the semifinals.

In doubles play, Skrobonja and Olmos battled Carri Hayes and Betina Tokac in the Round of 16. The Aztecs won 6-3 to advance to the quarterfinals where they drew third seeded De Las Heras and Jordyn McBride. The SDSU duo fell 6-1.

Olmos played Tokac in an extra match that was back and forth. Olmos was blanked 6-0 in the first set but stormed back to take the second 7-6 (7-4). The Aztec led 3-0 in the third when Tokac suffered an injury to give the match to Olmos.

The USTA Championships will conclude tomorrow.
