SAN DIEGO – The Aztec women's golf team returns to action Monday when they play at the Leadership and Golf Invitational. The tournament, which is being co-hosted by Washington and Seattle, is taking place at Chambers Bay Golf Course in University Place, Wash.
 
Golfers will play 36 holes Monday and 18 Tuesday. The 19-team field mostly consists of West Coast programs and features seven power-five schools, including No. 6 USC. Other schools competing are BYU, Cal Poly, Colorado, Fresno State, Georgia Southern, Gonzaga, Minnesota, Northern Arizona, Oregon State, Sacramento State, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Seattle, South Alabama, UC Riverside, Washington and Washington State.


Teams will begin play with a 8 a.m. shotgun start each day. There will be a free live stream on Monday and Tuesday provided by Gamekast. There will be 20 cameras on select holes and live play-by-play commentary on the 18th hole.
 
Head coach Lauren Dobashi (3rd season) will use the lineup of Emma Narita, Anna Lina Otten, Stephanie Barbaglia, Andrea Gomez and Anika Sato.

Narita (Tokyo, Japan) was the top Aztec finisher in her first collegiate start. She finished with a 227 (+11) and fired a one-over-par 72 in her final round.
 
Otten (Neuss, Germany), who had the second best average 18-hole score among returners (76.6), will be making her 25th career start. She shot a 76 in all three of her rounds in SDSU's first tournament.
 
Barbaglia (Johannesburg, South Africa), who joined the Aztecs in the spring season last year, finished one stroke behind Narita in her first career start for SDSU.
 
Gomez (Huixquilucan, Mexico) had the second highest count percentage (.800) among returners in 2022-23.


Sato (Utsunomiya, Japan) had the lowest average score among returners. She averaged 75.1 strokes per 18 holes and had two top-20 finishes last season. She was forced to withdraw in SDSU's first tournament due to a nagging injury.


Chambers Bay is a links style course that sits on the shores of Puget Sound. and is considered one of the top public courses in the nation. It was the first course in the Northwest to host the men's U.S. Open.
 
The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with temperatures maxing out in the high 60's.
