SAN DIEGO – San Diego State's soccer programs will each host San Diego for a match at Snapdragon Stadium in the 2023 season. The women's team will host the Toreros September 14 at 7 p.m. and the men's squad takes on USD October 14 at 7:30 p.m.
Last year, in the inaugural year of Snapdragon Stadium, both programs set school records for attendance. The women's team had 2,546 fans see them beat San Jose State, the eventual Mountain West Tournament champions. The men's team had 2,769 fans to see the Aztecs take on No. 2 Washington.
Facing crosstown foe San Diego, the goal is to set an attendance record once again. Tickets are as low as $10 ($8 for groups) or $15 for premium seating and parking is free.
Both squads won preseason friendlies last weekend by the score of 2-1. The men beat UC Irvine and the women ousted UC Riverside.
The Aztec women's team, who was picked to finish second in the Mountain West preseason coaches poll, opens their regular season this Thursday when they host Sacred Heart. The men's team has one more preseason friendly (Aug. 18 at California Baptist) before officially opening the season at Denver August 24.
